In previous posts we have explained the importance of protein to achieve better results when starting physical activity, but little has been said about the benefits of protein for our health. In the following article, we will explain why you should include quality protein in your diet.

In a study carried out in 2018 by a group of experts from the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Musculoskeletal Diseases in coordination with the International Osteoporosis Foundation, they found that protein is a food that will benefit the body's bone structure thanks to its high calcium content. It also states that consuming protein will maintain adequate levels of vitamin D, potassium, calcium, dietary fibre and folic acid.

For its part, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) explains that "The main importance of protein lies in the fact that it is an essential constituent of cells, which means that the benefits of protein for its replacement will be indispensable".

It is worth noting that quality protein has been found to have anti-ageing potential and is also a protector against age-related diseases, as it is involved in cell regeneration. "Consuming protein in combination with physical activity will slow the progressive and widespread loss of skeletal muscle mass," said Dr Douglas Paddon-Jones, a member of the Department of Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Texas.

Experts recommend consuming high quality protein in adequate amounts, always accompanied by physical activity to stimulate muscle protein synthesis, in short, the generation of muscle mass.

Remember that in Beverly Nutrition we have several protein options for every taste.
